Rowans and Honey - traditional music and crafts festival 14th june 2008
December 24th, 2007Rowans and Honey was set up by David George Pullar the great grandson of the late-Great Betsy Whyte, Rowans and honey is a traditional music and crafts festival which hopes to celebrate the life and culture of Betsy whyte, singer, storyteller and Scottish bestselling author, but most importantly it was set up to raise funds for the local branch of ENABLE, called the Key-way Club, ENABLE Scotland is a charitable organisation which try to give a better life to children and adults with learning disabilities.
Rowans and Honey traditional music and crafts festival will be held in the Montrose, Old and St Andrews Church Hall. We hope to have 18 craft stalls selling many different hand made products, there will be a cafe with lite food along with the usual tea, coffee and biscuits. There will be range of different artists playing thought the day on the main stage. While all this is going on there will be workshops up stairs in the gallery, there will be a singing workshop by the world famous Sheila Stewart of the Stewart’s of Blairgowrie at 2.30pm and a storytelling workshop by the equally famous Jess Smith at 1.30pm.
Betsy’s Barry Nicht Which will start at 7pm and end at 10.30pm also in the church hall will include Sheila Stewart - singing, Jess Smith - storyteller and the five peice folk band Heidrum. There will be a break with a raffel and stovies. Tickets cost £8.00
